What is BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR?
BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Training is offered by the American Heart
Association designed for providers in healthcare and other healthcare
professionals who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic
cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of both in,
and out of hospital settings.
This CPR class is required for anyone working in a hospital or
healthcare setting, however, students not in a healthcare setting are
also welcome to take this CPR class.
CPR Course Description
The BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Courses has been updated to
reflect new science in the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines
for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular
Care.
This video-based, Instructor-led CPR course teaches both single-rescuer
and team basic life support skills for application in both in and out
of hospital settings. This course trains participants to promptly
recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality
chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early
use of an AED. It includes adult, child, and infant rescue techniques.
BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Training teaches skills using the AHA's
research-proven Practice-While-Watching technique, which allows instructors
to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the student's
acquisition of skills.
Course Includes:
-Adult, Child, & Infant CPR ..both 1 and 2 rescuer scenarios
-Rescue Breathing and the use of a pocket mask and bag-valve mask
-Foreign-Body Airway Obstruction (Choking)
-Automated External Defibrillation (use of an AED)
Course Expectations:
- Pass the CPR AED skills test and bag-mask ventilation skills test.
- Must actively participate in, practice and complete all learning stations.
- Complete the closed-book written exam with a minimum score of 84%
Course Length:
4.5 hours for the full course and 4 hours for renewal
2 year CPR Certification after the successful completion testing
